5Well worth the money!!

I was pretty worried about buying a bass at this price but figured it was cheap enough to replace if need be. I have owned some very nice and expensive instruments before, both electric and upright, so I was pretty used to having top quality. But this bass feels great and sounds terrific! It plays every bit as good as a $700 dollar bass I once had. What I am trying to say is dont let the low price fool you, this is a good buy. Im very happy with mine and you will be too.

5It works...

5 stars for the value/price break. At this price it's a disposable/beater if nothing else. But, it sounds pretty good. It sounds VERY good for something that costs less than dinner for four.

Here is the real bottom line: it's a cheap acoustic-electric bass with cheap components and cheap build quality which is why the price is, cheap! It's not a Fender or a Martin. They aren't under $100 even in "needs repair" and broken condition. It has a decent tone, it holds the pitch, it's light, and the short scale is great!

Of course, like all instruments, and especially stringed instruments, it's not perfectly setup out of the box. 1) new strings! 2) file the frets on the sides 3) check the neck and adjust the truss rod 4) knock down the saddle just a touch 5) did I mention, new strings It's normal - all new stringed instruments need to be setup to be decent players. I also had to oil the fretboard, it was really dry.

Buy a set of short-scale strings for it. TruBass Black Nylon are sweet. Thick long scale strings clipped down won't stay in tune. Good bass machines are cheap (comparatively) too so if you don't like your tuners it's a pretty simple tweak to put a nice set of Grover's on there. You could add a nice bone nut and saddle too. Then again, by the time you put all that into it, it's not a cheap bass anymore and you could have bought one with all of those features already there.

If you've been playing bass for 10 years or you record three days a week in Nashville then you should know better than to think you can buy a $1000+ bass for under $100. If you need a beater or a practice bass then this isn't a bad deal at all. If you're just starting out and don't want to risk big bucks to later decide you'd rather play autoharp and harmonica then this is a great deal. If you want to see how you like a 30" scale then this is a good choice. If you don't mind tweaking it and need an occasional portable bass for unplugged things - it's pretty decent and plenty loud unplugged.

If you need a Fender BG-31 or Vic Bailey because you're that good - this ain't it.

1Please DON"T buy this!!!!!!!!!
By GuitarMan83
I've been playing guitar over 15 years now I bought this thinking it would be a great practice guitar since it is acoustic hence no need for amp and angry neighbors.... The frets stuck out the sides of the neck, scraped my hands up till I bled playing this stupid thing. If I tried playing a G note on the third fret there was a bad buzzing, so I adjusted the action to eliminate the buzz, and then the neck started to seperate from the base of the guitar... I wish I had bought a different guitar, I'd rather have a guitar and angry neighbor than sitting with a worthless piece of firewood....
